July 31, 2023: A Pillar In The House Of God

"The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name." (Revelation 3:12, ESV)

Jesus gives us rewards for being faithful. We should often return and review the rewards Jesus gives to His overcoming church. They are meant to be a source of encouragement and strength that we can draw from as we pass through difficulties in this life.
    
To the church of Philadelphia, Jesus gives a 'sense' of permanence and identity. To the believer that overcomes, Jesus promises they will be pillars in the Temple of God. Pillars speak of strength and permanence. They are located not just anywhere but in the Temple. If we remember Paul's words, we are reminded that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. It is as if Jesus is saying I will make you a pillar of strength in my body.
    
To the believers that overcomes in this world, Jesus promises new names. He will write on us the name of His God, the name of the New Jerusalem, and Jesus' new name. All these have to do with identification with Him. Because we choose to identify with Him in every condition of life. He chooses to identify with us for all eternity!
