January 15: Giants In The Good Land

1/15/2026

“The land, which we passed through to spy it out, is an exceedingly good land.” (Numbers 14:7, ESV)

God promises us good things!  But often the good things He has promised also come with giants!  Giants bigger than us. Giants who live in fortified cities. Giants who refuse to be moved.  When Israel was first introduced to the land of promise,  they found giants there.  And because of fear, were overcome by doubt and unbelief.  “How can God expect us to take this land?  We really should go back to Egypt!”

Back to Egypt! What does God want? God wants us to know that He is good and He is for us!  He wants us to know that it is His great desire to give it.  He wants that truth embedded in our hearts so that we would believe that He is well able to make it happen! There is no giant that can stand in the presence of our God!

Prayer: “Jesus, You over came it all on the cross!  Nothing is impossible!  Like Caleb said to Joshua, “Give me my mountain!”

Pause & Reflect:  What giants are keeping you out of His promises?

January 14: Everything Was Very Good!

“And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good…” (Genesis 1:31, ESV)

In the beginning, God crafted the universe with masterful care—vast oceans, towering mountains, delicate flowers, and the rhythm of evening and morning. After each act of creation, He declared it "good," but when He surveyed everything on that sixth day, He proclaimed it "very good." This was God’s divine delight in a world perfectly reflecting His character and who He is.

Genesis 1:31 reveals the goodness of God in the creation He made.  Out of nothing, God made all things and made them very good.  This is how He does things.  Goodness is an attribute of who He is. It would be impossible for Him to make anything contrary to His nature that is not good.  With that in mind, there is no way that we could justly accuse God of evil or doing something bad.

Prayer:  “Holy Spirit, teach me to see the goodness of God and to strip away every lie that I have believed that opposes His goodness.”

Pause & Reflect:  Can you think of a time where you accused God of something bad?  If so, confess it as a lie you believed and replace the lie with truth.

January 13: The Enduring Goodness Of God

“And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord: “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever toward Israel.” (Ezra 3:11, NKJV)

You will sing when you see He is good!  After seventy years of exile in Babylon, the Israelites returned to a ruined Jerusalem. Yet, when the temple's foundation was laid, joy erupted! They sang responsively, together, declaring God's unchanging goodness and steadfast love. This wasn't denial of their hardships but recognition that God's goodness is constant.  It is who He is!

In our lives, we face ruins too: broken dreams, losses, or seasons of waiting. Like the Israelites, we can praise God for who He is. His goodness isn't fleeting; it is enduring forever. Today, lift your voice in thanksgiving. Shout for joy, for the Lord is rebuilding what was lost, and His faithful love sustains you always.

Prayer: “Father, I lift my voice to you in praise today. In the midst of ruins or with the laying of new foundations… you are good and your mercy endures forever.”

Pause & Reflect:  It is good to sing! Find a spiritual song and let it rip!

January 12: God Is Entirely Good Toward All!

The angel announced:  “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:14, NKJV)  What a powerful decree of what God’s heart is like and what His intentions are with all men.  Goodwill toward all men!  All means all, not just those who believe.  God was setting the record straight at the birth of His Son that He only has good intentions towards humanity. That has never changed!  Believe that, and that will affect your prayer life, family life, work life, etc.

It was Bill Johnson who said, “Our boldness to declare and demonstrate who He is in a given situation is seriously impaired if we are not confident of what He is like.” When we truly grasp that God is entirely good, everything shifts. Prayers rise with expectation. Families receive grace. Workplaces become arenas of kindness. Ministry flows with power and compassion. Yes! Goodwill from God to all people!

Prayer:  “Father may my life demonstrate your goodwill toward everyone I meet today.”

Pause & Reflect:  Think of someone ‘undeserving’ of good in your sphere of influence.  Now, find a way to demonstrate God’s goodness toward them.

January 11: Seeing God’s Goodness

“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!” (Psalm 27:13, ESV)

In the midst of trials—enemies closing in, fears rising--David declares unwavering confidence in God's goodness. He admits that without this truth, he would have despaired. Yet, he chooses to believe he will experience the Lord's goodness and kindness here and now, in this life.

God's goodness isn't distant or reserved for eternity; it's tangible in the "land of the living." It shows up in provision during scarcity, peace amid chaos, deliverance from danger, and joy in His presence. David's enemies couldn't rob him of this truth because his hope was anchored in God's character—unchanging, faithful, and overflowing with goodness.  When despair comes knocking on your door, echo David's words. Cultivate confidence through prayer and remembrance of His past faithfulness. God's goodness is pursuing you right now. Like David, expect to see the goodness of God in your life.

Prayer:  “Father, forgive me for being overwhelmed and fearful. I will look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”

Pause & Reflect:   In light of bad news (whether personal or media-driven) choose to see God’s goodness in that despairing situation.

January 10: If You Have Seen Me…

Jesus said to Philip, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.” (John 14:9)  And what did Philip see?  He saw Jesus healing the lame and blind. He saw Jesus delivering demonically oppressed people.  He saw Jesus feeding thousands of people. He saw Jesus loving the lepers and raising the dead.  He saw Jesus doing good to those experiencing ‘bad’ everywhere He went.

It did not matter who you were, what you were doing or how awful you were…Jesus was going to say something good or do something good to you!

So when He says, “Whoever has seen me has seen the Father”. Suddenly we are filled with wonder!  Oh! So that is what the Father is like!  God’s goodness as a loving Father is expressed in how He always wants the best for us. Jesus came to our world so that we would experience the goodness of the Father.

Prayer:  “Father, as I think of all the good things that Jesus did for others, teach me to know He is doing good to me today.”

Pause & Reflect:   Make a list of five different times that you have seen Jesus do good to others.

January 9: The Bedrock Truth: The Lord Is Good

“The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.” (Psalm 145:9, ESV)

The Lord is good!  This phrase is found many times in the Old Testament. It is a bedrock truth to the children of Israel and to all who believe in God.  It is paramount that we believe GOD IS GOOD!  Without it, we will always follow God at a distance. But with it, we will draw near to Him in every situation and circumstance of life.  Without it, we never quite fully believe He will answer our prayers. But with it, we will believe that all things are possible with God!  Without it, what we know of God will crumble. But with it, we have hope, we know all things become possible in Christ, and we stand firm on this bedrock truth on which our faith rests!  He is good!

Prayer: “Father, in the name of your Son, Jesus, may the knowing of your goodness become the bedrock on which my life is built.”

Pause & Reflect:
Say it ten times in a row slowly: “The Lord is good to all.”

January 8: He Went About Doing Good!

“…God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38, ESV)

God anointed Jesus! God was with Jesus! And everywhere Jesus went, He was doing good and healing those oppressed by the devil.  Have you ever noticed that the crowds followed Jesus? Have you ever noticed that the crowds pressed in upon Jesus?  Why?  They wanted to be touched by His goodness. Whatever was negative in their lives they wanted it removed and if there was anyone who could do anything about it, it was Jesus because He does good!

Let me remind you, you are anointed by God!  God is with you!  You too are a demonstrator of God’s goodness to all you come in contact with.  Let people know God is good!

Prayer: “Knowing I too have this anointing, Father let me demonstrate Your goodness to someone today.”

Pause & Reflect:  Think of two people that you can demonstrate God’s goodness to today.

January 7: How Much More Your Father In Heaven

“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11, NIV)

Even the best human parent is flawed, yet we still delight in blessing our children. We save, sacrifice, and surprise them simply because we love them. Jesus says: If broken people like us know how to give good gifts, how much more does our perfect Father in heaven long to pour out goodness on His sons and daughters?

God is never reluctant, never stingy, never too busy. His heart toward you is kind, generous, and wise. The cross proves He spares no expense; the empty tomb guarantees every promise. So come boldly today. Ask for daily bread, healing, wisdom, joy—ask for more of Jesus Himself. Your Father’s goodness isn’t earned; it’s lavished because you are His beloved child.

Prayer: Good Father, thank You for loving me perfectly. I trust Your heart and open my hands to receive Your good gifts today. Amen

Pause & Reflect: What good gift from your Father have you been hesitant to ask for or receive?Take a moment to trust His heart and bring that desire to Him today.

January 6: Hunted By God’s Goodness

1/6/2026

Psalm 23:6 declares, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

The Hebrew word for “follow” is stronger than a gentle stroll; it means to pursue, chase, even hunt down. David is saying that God’s goodness is not an occasional visitor but a relentless hunter tracking us through every dark valley and every deep shadow—pursuing us in every mistake and chasing us through every victory.

Think of it: the same Shepherd who leads us beside still waters and through dark valleys does not ever abandon the chase. His goodness runs after prodigals, overtakes the fearful, and corners the proud with kindness we cannot outrun. Mercy chases us, constantly giving us what we don’t deserve, and goodness goes ahead, preparing tables, anointing heads, overflowing cups.

Prayer:  Father, when I find myself in the dark shadows of life, remind me that Your goodness is pursuing me!

Pause & Reflect:   Declare this over yourself:  “I am not tolerated by God, I am pursued by His inexhaustible goodness and overtaken by it!”
