The Map
Proverbs 2:1-5
My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the LORD,
And find the knowledge of God.
- Treasure It
a. We have to come to the word expecting to encounter Jesus
1. We don’t want to be like the Pharisees John 5:38-42
2. When Holy Spirit pops some thing out to you stop and ask some questions. Why is this leaping out? What is important in it? Where Do I need to apply it?
3. Be quiet and listen!!!
4. Don’t make it work.
b. When God encounters us we must value it.
1.Psalm 119 man this guy loved gods word
2. John 6:68 But Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life
3. Philippians 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus
4. Keep a record
- DO IT
a. We have to position our selves to listen.
b. Don’t technically listen but Listen
c. We have to act on it.
John 14:21He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."
- Go After It
a. God loves to see how much we really want it.
1. Like our dog and treat on his nose.
2.God wants to give what we ask to us but he also loves to see how much we really want it.
b. He will strengthen us in our desperation
Psalm 63:8
My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.
Close.
- The seeing the value of what you are after.
- The work is worth the prize.
- Make the most of the invatation
- We have to give our selves to Knowing God not just as our savior or getting that head knowledge but actually knowing his heart his emotions.
- When we see him rightly then we know that we can trust him to do what he says in the bible that He can and wants to do.
