Make Me A Son of Fresh Oil
080514w Make Me An Olive Tree

Introduction:
· With the revival going on in Lakeland there is much talk about the anointing and fire of God.
· I want to encourage our hearts tonight by looking at the anointing. I want it to increase on my life and on the life of our church.
· There is a progression of three things we obtain while searching for God as hungry seekers. The Presence of God, The Anointing of God and the Glory of God.
· We have been doing good to enter the Presence of God these past few weeks I want to get us hungry for more.
1. Sons of Fresh Oil
a. Ps 52:8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in the mercy of God forever and ever. NKJV This is the starting point, we want to be green olive trees!
i. Olive trees are able to produce fresh oil. We want to be produces of the oil not just slick with oil. We do not want to be anointed olive trees we want to be oil producers. There is a big difference.
ii. We want to be able to produce it and not just get it.
1. To produce oil means we are to be green all the time, full of life all the time, spiritually shining for God all the time.
2. To often we pray for gifting, power, strength, deliverance so that we can accomplish a task. God wants us to be a green olive tree and that has everything to do with fruitfulness!
b. Prov 21:20 There is desirable treasure, And oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man squanders it. NKJV
i. What is in the dwelling of the wise? Treasure and oil.
ii. Oil was something very valuable to the Israelites. If you had oil you had wealth.
iii. 2 Kings 4:2-ff. Elisha filled the widow’s vessels with oil and she was able to pay off her debts and live off the rest.
c. Job 29:4-6 When the friendly counsel of God was over my tent; 5 When the Almighty was yet with me,When my children were around me; 6 When my steps were bathed with cream, And the rock poured out rivers of oil for me! NKJV Look at that! Job spoke of the time when Rivers of Oil flowed out before him!
d. Zech. 4: 1-14
i. Vs 14 speaks of the anointed ones. The Theological Word Book of the OT translates that as the sons of fresh oil! Only in Zech 4:14 is yish¹r used in the sense of anointing; "sons of oil" = "anointed ones." (from Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament. ii. Joel 2:28,29 I will pour out my spirit…
2. Why Fresh Oil?
a. For light.
i. Ex 25:6 oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense. NKJV. Moses was asking for offerings to make these things.
ii. Abundance of it so that it will burn continually. Ex 27:20 "And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually. NKJV
b. For consecration
i. Ex 30:25-26 And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil. Ex 30:30 And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests. NKJV
1. EVO extra virgin olive oil was the first oil made from the oil in the first pressing.
2. Olive oil for cooking
3. Olive oil for soaps and ointments
ii. Ex 40:9-11 "And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it; and you shall hallow it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy. 10 You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. The altar shall be most holy. 11 And you shall anoint the laver and its base, and consecrate it. NKJV
c. For Authority
i. 1 Sam 16:1 Now the LORD said to Samuel,"How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons." … 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah. NKJV
1. Horn speaks of authority.
2. Reference horns in the prophetic books.
ii. Ps 92:10-11 But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil. 11 My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies; My ears hear my desire on the wicked Who rise up against me. NKJV
iii. Elijah anointed Jehu to be king and Elisha to be prophet. It was authority given by heaven.
d. For Refreshing and Healing.
i. Ezek 16:9 "Then I washed you in water; yes, I thoroughly washed off your blood, and I anointed you with oil. 10 I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of badger skin; NKJV
ii. Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, NKJV
e. For bridal atmosphere
i. Est 2:12 Esther spent 12 months soaking in oil in preparation for one night with the king.
f. For joy and gladness
i. Ps 45:7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. NKJV
ii. Isa 61:3-4 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." 4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations. NKJV
